A Tropical Valentine’s Getaway

Happy Valentine’s day!
What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s day with your special person? Are you staying local or escaping to a fun destination for some warm sun and cold beverages?
If you haven’t planned your getaway yet, here are a few of my favorite couples only all-inclusive resorts.
In Jamaica, I love Couples Sans Souci. This is a large resort in terms of the land size, but is very intimate when you look at guest occupancy. It is located on the northeast cost of Jamaica, close to Ocho Rios. It is a short drive from the new Ocho Rios airport, or about 1 hours 45 minutes from the Montego Bay airport.
I love the mountain views, amazing blue water, stunning spa rooms located on ocean cliffs and the quiet, white sandy beach. It feels like a version of Hawaii. This resort has brand new updates and is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway. This property requires a lot of walking to get around, so not great if there are physical issues.
A close second is Couples Negril. This is a resort in the Couples Resorts brand, but is located on the west coast of Jamaica. This is a smaller resort, not as sprawling, and easier to get around. This location is set on the beautiful white sands of Seven Mile Beach. The waters are generally gentle as the resort is tucked on the calm, less windy side of the island. You cannot beat this location for gorgeous sunset views out on the ocean and a chill vibe.

In the Dominican Republic, my favorite resort is the unique experience of Casa de Campo Hotel and Villas. This is unlike any other all inclusive resort. Disclaimer: this resort is NOT adults only, but it is so worth it. The hotel is set in the 7000 acre community of Casa de Campo. This is a private community of private villas which also includes the hotel. They have an all-inclusive rate that includes meals and beverages, plus access to their marina, the Minitas Beach Club, Altos De Chavon, which is a replica of a 1600th century town, shooting club and equestrian club. Your room reservation includes a 4 seater golf cart to get you around the community. It is a one of a kind vacation!
For a unique resort experience in the Dominican Republic that is adults only, I recommend Sanctuary Cap Cana. This is in the private Cap Cana community, but it is not nearly as sprawling as Casa de Campo. The Cap Cana beach area is generally calm, and the resort has beautiful unique architecture. A perfect place for couple’s getaway.
In Mexico, there are almost too many to mention. In Cancun/Riviera Maya region, I love Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya. This resort is a lush property with a gorgeous swimmable beach. The property is very eco-conscious and have not cleared the mangroves, which means that most rooms do not have an ocean view. For a secluded ocean front room, you will need to book in the Emerald categories. For an awesome swim up location, check out the Golden level categories.
I also think Live Aqua Cancun is a great resort. This is located in the hotel zone of Cancun on a stretch of white sand. It is not a large resort but has plenty quiet/zen locations for couples to enjoy, super comfy beds and a beautiful sunrise view.
In general, Valentine’s day marks the end of “engagement season.” Traditionally, engagements tend to happen during the holiday period starting from Thanksgiving and usually ending around Valentine’s day.
